It’s one of our favorite events of the year as we kick off another beautiful season. The Greenhouse and Nursery Yard will be buzzing with live music, delicious food, hayrack rides, a friendly pie contest, and more. Join us as we celebrate our annual Harvest Party on Saturday, September 14th from 11am-2pm.
Music by Miwi La Lupa
Even before you get to the Greenhouse, we bet you’ll be drawn in by the spirited sound coming from singer-songwriter Miwi La Lupa. Since moving to Omaha in 2016, Miwi has released two albums showcasing his talent for story-telling and engaging rhythms – and we can’t wait to have him join us for the event.
Food + Drinks
While you enjoy the music, be sure to grab a bite for lunch. Carter & Rye will be here serving up their delicious, handmade hot pockets and hand pies. Then stop by the charming little ice cream truck from Coneflower Creamery – where they’ll be serving up cups of that decadent, cold creamy goodness made from all-natural, locally sourced ingredients. Or if something to sip is what you’re looking for, Myrtle & Cypress Coffeehouse will be here with a few of their specialty drinks to enjoy too. But don’t forget to bring cash – we’d hate for you to miss out.
Hayrack Tours
For an up-close – and entertaining – tour of the Nursery Yard as it transitions from summer into fall, hop on our hayrack ride led by team member Jason Spring. As you travel through the trees, shrubs, and perennials – pulled along by our old ‘48 Ford tractor – Jason will introduce you to the beautiful plants and flowers you see during the journey. You may even catch a tidbit or two about the team, the store’s history, and anything else Jason’s engaging personality comes up with. The hayrack ride has become one of the must-do elements of the Harvest Party – the whole family will love it.
A Friendly Pie Contest
Nothing embodies all the good feelings and fresh flavors of fall like a nice thick piece of homemade pie – and if you’re the celebrated pie maker among your friends and family, come be a part of our pie contest. Consider entering your famous creation for the chance to win one of three Mulhall’s gift cards up to $100. Our Honey-Tasting
And stop by our honey-tasting booth to sample a variety of natural honeys you may be surprised to see for the first time. From pale yellow to nearly black, each honey gets its color from the type of flower the bees foraged to create it – and each flavor can be as complex and nuanced as your favorite wine or craft beer. Don’t pass up this experience – it’s a real eye-opener.
Art with Two Keys Creative Studios
We’ve asked the folks at Two Keys Creative Studios to join the party too. At their studio, kids and adults get to engage in all kinds of artistic disciplines using a range of media. And at the Harvest Party, artists from Two Keys will host an art station where you can stop and create your own nature-inspired artwork using fresh botanical materials.
The Plant ID Challenge
You may be familiar with our popular Plant ID Challenge from some of our other Greenhouse events. And you may have already proven your flair for identifying plants and flowers in the winter, spring, and summer. But do you know the plants of fall? Find out at the Plant ID booth and take home a fun prize too.
