Who doesn’t love fall – with its cool breezes, warm colors, spicy aromas, and rustling leaves? Join us for our upcoming Harvest Party and help us celebrate the new fall season. On Saturday, September 8th, from 11am to 2pm, the greenhouse and nursery will be bustling with live music, great food, and fun activities for the family. We’re excited to kick off one of our favorite seasons with a fun afternoon, and we hope you’ll join us.
Enjoy Live Music, Food + Drinks
To help us celebrate, local band Daniel and the Deliverance will fill the greenhouse with their upbeat, bluegrass-inspired music. Enjoy the sounds, and grab some delicious soul food fresh from Big Mama’s Kitchen. With their home-style recipes passed through the generations, you might know them for their famous oven-fried chicken and incredible sweet-potato-pie ice cream. We’re on the edge of our seats to hear what favorites they’ll bring for our Harvest Party. And joining us too is the team from Rally Coffee Co. serving up some delicious specialty drinks. Be sure to bring cash – we don’t want you to miss out!
Take a Tour on Our Hayrack Ride
Out in the Nursery Yard, the sedums, goldenrod, and black-eyed Susans are in their prime – attracting legions of butterflies and adding their brilliant colors to the fall palette. To get an up-close view of our Nursery Yard, hop on our hayrack ride led by Nursery Yard team member Jason Spring. As you roll along, Jason will tell you all about the nursery, maybe a little tidbit or two about the team, and anything else his engaging personality might come up with. The entire family will enjoy this fun – sometimes comical – tour of our fall nursery collection.
Enter Our Pie Contest
And fall wouldn’t be fall without some delicious pie. If you have a highly sought-after pie recipe, consider entering it in our friendly pie contest for the chance to win one of three Mulhall’s gift cards. It’s easy to enter – just head over to our Harvest Party event page for the official rules and registration information.
Meet the Bees + Try Some Rare Honeys
Also joining us for the party are the folks from the Omaha Bee Club, bringing their live observation bee hive, so you can watch these fascinating insects right up-close. And stop by our honey-tasting booth to sample a variety of natural honeys ranging in flavors and color. From a subtle yellow to nearly black, each honey gets its color and flavor from the type of flower the bees foraged to create it. Each honey can be as complex and nuanced as your favorite wine or craft beer. Trust us, this experience is a real eye-opener.
Take the Plant ID Challenge
If you’ve been to other events in our greenhouse, you might be familiar with our popular Plant ID booth. Before you leave, be sure to stop by and test your plant-naming knowledge for a fun prize to take home.
Let’s Celebrate the Season
There’s just something about fall that puts everyone in the mood to celebrate. And getting the chance to enjoy a gorgeous afternoon with you and our community partners – along with delicious food, great music, and beautiful plants too – makes our Harvest Party one of our favorite events of the year. We hope you’ll join us for this fun kick-off to an amazing new season.
